The Coffee Club opens in Egypt

Posted on 05 Jul 2012

Australian cafe franchise The Coffee Club has expanded its global footprint with its first Egyptian store opening in tourist spot Tivoli Dome on the north coast. There are plans for 15 outlets to open in the country within the next five years.

A major franchise licence has been signed with Egyptian food and drink retailer Royal Gourmet.

Ross Caldwell, general manager international of The Coffee Club, said the time is right for an entry into the Egyptian market.

"Coffee shops are an institution and Egyptian coffee drinkers have a discerning taste when it comes to the quality of coffee they drink. We want to create a welcoming place for locals and a familiar place for any tourists that are looking for excellent coffee and great service," Caldwell said.

Egyptians' taste for coffee rather than alcohol as a social drink is driving consumption and according to Business Monitor International: Egypt Food and Drink Report Q2 2012, coffee sales increased by 8.4 percent over the last year, to a total of US$33.67 million.
